WHERE IS LOVE
Love has never known me,
she comes and goes flirting with small touches,
whispers of what could be.
Scars on my heart guarded by thorns from past visits.
This mysterious one, elusive and cunning.
Love's visits grow farther apart, leaving me longing for her touch.
If she were to come, fear would surely walk next to her, holding her hand.
Love would be welcome, just inside the door with a peck on the cheek.
With fear at her side, she would find me anxious for exit.
Half hearted I wish love were here, without her friend fear.

HOPE'S HOUSE
Five fumbled words spill from my mouth
When will you love me the reflection in the mirror turns away
I'm lost inside, unsure of the direction to take.
Emptiness lends no hand to what I seek.
Some day I'll love myself, then others might follow.
Those words sound of contradiction, they trespass at will.
Don't they see the signs, stay off the grass, stay away and beware?
They're shielded by smiles and outstretched arms, coats of love.
One day I'll unlock the deadbolt, slide the chain back.
They come over and over, leave a map to hope's house.

TRAVELLER'S
Where have we gone?
Lost along the roads.
Time is cruel, passes us by.
We.ve found places to rest along the road.
Minutes, hours and years slip away, leaving us blind to what could be.
Strangers to ourselves, those at our sides are mirror images of where we are.
Just over the hill, a whistle to those with open ears.
A song of what lies ahead, but to venture over that hill.
Risk is such that only few will ever know what it holds.
